A new year, and a new upgrade system.
It's been a while since the last update of Mines of Volantis. Besides the busy holidays I spent quite some time on a new upgrade system. Upgrades are now divided in separate tiers that can be unlocked with Artifacts, which can acquired by completing missions but are also found in the world. After unlocking a tier a set of upgrades become available which can be purchased with credits.
While creating the new upgrade system I learned a lot about Unity's Scriptable Objects. I wish I knew about them when i started this project since they make developing a game so much easier and faster, but for now I just slapped them on the existing structure of the code and it works fine anyway.
