Major update and a turning point


To those who've played Mines of Volantis might have been wondering if this game is dead. The last update was in July last year and I had released updates faily regularly.

After the last summer update the game was very very slow and I made the decision to completely redo the world generation. This took months to complete (with a few hours every weeks), and the end result did not offer anything new in the area of gameplay. With the new world generation, I created the lava caves to give at least something new.

And then, the unexpected happened. I got an offer for a full time game development position! I couldn't be happier, as this is grealy accelerating my experience with creating games.

After working on the job for a while I learned so much I could apply to Mines of Volantis that I took the extra time to apply my new knowledge to the user experience of MoV.

So now I'm finally done with the new build! I hope you enjoy it!

Full change list:

-Created world generation from scratch, improving loading time and performance dramatically.
-The Upgrade and Research station are now unlocked separately at the Communication Beacon.
-Added a 100% upgrade boost to the Communication Beacon.
-Added a new world layer, the lava caves.
-Added Obsidian and Red Crystal blocks.
-Added post processing effects.
-Added new overlay for accessing buildings.
-Improved the background scenery of the planet.
-Improved a few background music tracks.
-Created a new logo.
